A Beautiful Weekend

As you already know, I had initially planned to ask you to be my girlfriend this weekend.  While I may have jumped the gun on that question, I saw no reason to abandon my plans for the day.  I was planning to take you to Centennial Park, where we would rent a canoe and I would read my limerick in the middle of the lake.  It was a decent plan, but all's well that ends well.  We still went to the lake, but didn't rent a canoe.  We threw around the frisbee, enjoyed a picnic lunch, and walked around the lake.  As it was showing signs of raining, we headed over to the mall to cash in on the free Chikfila milkshake coupons from Eric.  Neither of us like shopping, but I missed out on walking around the mall with my girlfriend in high school.  Retroactive bucket list?  Saturday evening we went to Emma's graduation party.  It was good to be able to celebrate Emma, but weird trying to figure out how to be a couple around our friends.  Back at the Clementine, we watched The Bourne Identity and played footsie on your couch.  A new game for both of us, but it turns out we are both fast learners.  Before heading over to Fox St to sleep, I read you another poem outside your house.  No amount of poetry could ever express how beautiful you are.

Sunday proved to be another busy day.  I came over for breakfast and pretended to be a morning person.  We headed back to Gaithersburg for church at COR, where you got to meet a few more of my friends.  After church Amanda joined us for lunch at my house, which turned out to be a Q/A session with my parents.  While part of me wants you all to myself, I'm glad they are getting to know you, especially my mom.  We hung out at my house for a bit before driving way down to Waldorf for the Remo grad party.  This was a blast, we have really great friends.  We completed our Sunday tour of Maryland by driving back to Columbia to hang out at your place.  Big Fish wasn't my favorite movie ever, but we learned to play everything elsies that night, which was memorable to say the least.  Leaving you has never been easy, but somehow you got me back in my car and our weekend together came to a close.

Beautiful

I'm not sure what it is about you
that first caught my eye
It might have been your winning smile
or just a friendly "hi"

I know it didn't take me long
to realize at your core
You love the Lord with all your heart
i couldn't ask for more

The way you care about your family
friends and even me
You model how to love like Christ
the way it ought to be

You care about the world's injustice
like the Father would
You make me want to make a change
and you believe I could

I could look into your eyes all day
hoping to get lost
If through them i can see your soul
that explains a lot

You're gorgeous on the outside
but your heart is what i treasure
If outside you're a perfect 10
your heart is beyond measure

You're beautiful in every way
a daughter of the king
I thank Him for you everyday
my beautiful blessing
